Having coached thousands of people I started to see a pattern of this - so I named the part of you that thinks you can The Friend and the part of you that thinks you can’t The Enemy.
Whenever you set yourself a goal or outcome to achieve, The Friend and The Enemy is in play. The bigger the outcome, the higher the stakes, the more interesting the game.
The tricky part is people aren't aware of The Enemy part because it's hidden.
